166. The Shaggs - "Philosophy of the World" (from the Philosophy of the World album, Third World Records, 1969)
If you don't know the Shaggs' story, read the wiki right quick. There is a curious appeal to this stuff that comes strictly from the odd sister act storyline. But I really do love the Shaggs' songs, and you can say that they're only interesting because the Wiggin sisters were incompetent, or you can say they were idiosyncratic, but that doesn't change the results, which rhythmically, melodically, and structurally sound like they come from a different world. Whatever the intention, the effect makes me quite happy.
