162. Nu Shooz - "I Can't Wait" (Atlantic, 1985)
I had no clue what this song was until fairly recently, and then I heard it and I was like, "Holy Shit! That riff they play at NBA games when a team is bringing the ball up!" Now I'm sure that more knowledgeable ears than mine knew that all along, or don't give a shit about basketball or whatever, but I was shocked. This is so cool though, a slowish burner with an awesome hook and a deep groove. And I think its ubiquity among a nation of basketball fans who have never heard of Nu Shooz (surely I'm not the only one) is pretty interesting.
