I want you, I want you, I want you so bad

163. Bob Dylan - "I Want You" (Columbia, 1966)

So Dylan's the great lyricist, sure, wonderful, but besides the great image of "the lonesome organ grinder" crying and, of course, the repetitive chorus of "I want you (3x) so bad," the lyrics in this song don't mean all that much to me. It's the melodies and the hooks. The organ and guitars interweaving, calling and answering both each other and the vocals. That little "doo, doo-doo" thing that the organ does during the bridge. (Is that even an organ? I feel like a dummy identifying instruments sometimes). Instrumentally, this is amazing pop, catchy and memorable at every turn. The fact that it has Bob Dylan Lyrics is, for me, an afterthought.
